Dr. Robert Eid

Robert Eid is a seasoned banker with over four decades of international experience, having held prominent roles at leading financial institutions. His career spans CEO and board-level positions, where he has demonstrated expertise in developing strategic initiatives and executing operational plans. Known for his ability to lead large, culturally diverse teams, Eid has been instrumental in driving change management and digital transformation, as well as engaging with regulators and various stakeholders. He retired from full-time employment in February 2021 and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Kuwait.

Eid’s leadership experience includes a 15-year tenure as Managing Director and CEO of Arab National Bank (ANB) in Saudi Arabia, where he was responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the bank. He chaired key committees and oversaw several significant investments, including the bank’s investment banking arm, heavy equipment leasing, home finance associate, and insurance joint ventures. Prior to his role at ANB, he spent over 22 years at the National Bank of Kuwait, where he held several senior positions, including Group General Manager and Managing Director of the UK subsidiary. His extensive experience across multiple regions has positioned him as a prominent figure in the banking sector.

In addition to his banking career, Robert Eid has a wide range of business and social interests. He is the founder of Hammana Artist House, a cultural NGO in Lebanon, and has co-founded several ventures, including a French-Italian restaurant and a boutique hotel in his home country. Eid also has a strong academic background, holding a PhD in Money and Banking from Sorbonne University, along with a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the American University of Beirut. Fluent in multiple languages, Eid has been recognized for his achievements, including being named Banker of the Year at the World Finance Banking Awards in 2016.
